Christ, The One of Peerless Worth, K.Y. |
|
I was born and raised in a conservative family in Singapore. My upbringing was very strict but my parents showered my siblings and me with love and attention. I had no lack materially and emotionally. The result--I did not need God. In fact my parents were quite serious about Buddhism but they did not impose any religious standard on us. From my youth, I had determined to have a happy life since I can only live once. I did not have too many complaints about my life as it was pretty good, yet there was a sense of lack and emptiness in me that could not be explained. I tried to satisfy myself with material things but the satisfaction that they provided was transient and fleeting. Eventually my sister preached the gospel to me. She had become a very serious Christian and I was amazed by the change in her. I decided to give the Lord a chance and accept Him into my life. Shortly thereafter I believed in the Lord. I moved to California for a college education and started meeting with the Christians in the local churches. These Christians were just ordinary people who sought after the Lord and loved Him very much. Knowing that I was a foreigner, they accepted and treated me like kin. Their cherishing and nourishing had stirred up my appetite for the Lord and my willingness to give myself to love Him. I am so thankful to the Lord that He has found me and brought me to the local churches. The Lord is the only one who can satisfy my needs and wants because He is the one of peerless worth. The Real God I thank the Lord for the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. When I was in high school, one of my classmates tried to preach the gospel to me. He emphasized the matter of being saved from hell and going to heaven after death and living happily ever after. I was very unconvinced by the gospel he preached which seemed to make the Lord merely the Lord of blessing and prosperity. However, I must admit that the thought of going to the lake of fire really scared me. Upon touching the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, my natural concept of Christ and the Christian life was revolutionized. Christ really desires to be our friend, brother, life and everything. He is actually so loving, sweet and most important of all, so real. Through the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I realized that I have a human spirit (John 4:24). The human spirit is the means for us to have fellowship with God. It is the only means to communicate and converse with Him. God has became genuine and subjective to me. I am thankful to the Lord for my salvation. It is not a salvation of eternal fire insurance. It is one in which God is real. He is the meaning of my life. |
